Ling Luo, Founder and Chairwoman of AALC

Ling has served the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities for about 20 years as an Asian Adviser and Representative of Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and Asian Community Liaison for former Congressman Nick Lampson. Ling is the founding chair of the Asian Americans Leadership Council (AALC) and the founding chair of Asian American Democratic Club (AADC). Ling has led and mobilized national Asian American and Pacific Island (AAPI) communities in congressional and presidential elections for the last 20 years. Ling was the Founding Chair of Chinese Americans for Biden Affinity Group (CAFB), the Co-Chair of the AAPI finance committee in Biden for president in the 2020 presidential election, the Co-Chair of the AAPI Leadership Consul for Bloomberg for President campaign in 2020, and the Chair of Asian Americans for Hillary in the 2016 and 2008 presidential elections. Ling was the DNC (Democratic National Committee) National Finance Committee member (2017-2019) and currently serves as the board member of the DNC National Seniors Leadership Council and member of the DNC AAPI Leadership Council. Under her leadership, AALC has been the leading organization in TX against the racist bill SB147 and SB552. AALC organized the most historical protest rally on February 11, 2023, in Houston Chinatown and received congressional recognition for its outstanding leadership in the civil rights movement. Ling earned her MBA degree in 2001 and is currently pursuing Ph. D. Degree in Organizational leadership at Indiana Wesleyan University.

Alice Yi, President of AALC

Alice has mobilized Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities in Austin for about 30 years. Alice is a co-founder and senior strategy consultant for Asian Texans for Justice, founder of Austin Asian Community Civic Coalition, leads another non-profit Register2Vote organization to register TX voters and beyond, a local partner with the Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote organization for the past ten years. In 2013, she co-founded the Austin, TX, Chapter of the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs. Alice is the Asian American Community Liaison to Congressman Lloyd Doggett, also on the Executive Board Committee of the Exploring Capital Area Council. Alice came to the U.S. from China over 42 years ago to study at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. Under her leadership, as a first-year non-profit organization, Asian Texans for Justice made history for our Asian Community. They have raised munificent funds, built AAPI coalitions in TX, and invested in TX state-wide voter turnout projects for both primary and general elections in 2022.

Sue Zhao, Board Member, AALC Florida Chair

Sue joined Asian American Democratic Club( AADC) in 2016 as Social Media Director and Chief Editor of Voice of Chinese America (VOCA), a political commentary platform under Hana Media. As AADC Vice Chair, Sue organized the national campaign in the Chinese American For Biden (CAFB) affinity group responsible for phone banking & postcard writing in the 2020 Presidential election. As an AALC Action Committee member, Sue actively supported the opposition against TX SB147 led by AALC, responsible for coverage and communication on Social Media about all the events in the movement of the Anti-discriminatory bills. As AALC Florida Chair, Sue organized South Florida Chinese Community to call & send emails to FL Representatives & FL Senators against HB1355 & SB264 in April 2023 and jointly organized the Miami area protest rally on April 29, 2023. Sue earned her Master of Science Degree at Florida International University. She is a scientist working in the Biotech industry in Miami.

Albert Yan, Ph.D, Board Member

Albert has served in the Chinese American communities in South Florida for almost 20 years. He was elected as the president of the Chinese Association of Science, Education, and Culture of South Florida (CASEC) during 2019-2021 and is the current Chair of the Oversight Committee of CASEC (2021-2023). During the pandemic, Albert launched and organized the largest fundraisers in CASEC history to purchase medical supplies for both domestic and international hospitals for COVID-19 relief. From January 23 to the middle of July 2020, CASEC collaborated with other local Chinese American groups, collected over $100, 000 funds and medical supplies, and organized over 40 donation efforts to hospitals, and senior communities in Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties. One of the large-scale 21,600 pieces of PPE donations was to Telnet Medical Group, which was on the cover-page story of Palm Beach Post and an interview by WPTV 5. Albert and the CASEC team also assisted CASEC members and families to secure PPE supplies and Chinese medicine against COVID-19. Under his leadership, CASEC organized a series of cultural and educational events to spread Chinese culture and promote the friendship between the US and China. Albert joined South Florida Chinese Community to call & send emails to FL Representatives & FL Senators against HB1355 & SB264 in April 2023 and organized the protest rally on April 29, 2023, in Miami Florida. Albert is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Florida Asian American Justice Alliance (FAAJA) Albert Yan received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Florida International University.

Yue Zhang, Ph.D, Board Member

Dr. Zhang graduated from Harvard University with a Ph.D in Environmental Science and Engineering. Currently he is a faculty member at Texas A & M University. He is also passionate about public service and volunteering work.

Ni Yan, AALC Legal Counsel

Ni Yan is a New York licensed attorney and has been practicing immigration law at Law Office of Solis & Yan, P.C. in Houston, representing both individuals and corporations in Houston Tx since March, 2002. She has successfully represented clients in over 10,000 cases and thrived on helping those in need to realize their dreams of living or working in the United States of America. She has been volunteering for many non-profit organizations.
